This year, we are running two sets of programs:
– 5-week programs starting Thursday, September 26 – All 5-weeks will take place at MacTaggart Sanctuary!
– 5-week programs starting Thursday, November 7 – rotating through a different park space each week.
Program Time:
Our program operates with a 30 minute sliding start, families can start anytime between 6:00PM-6:30PM and will have a minimum of 1 hour to complete the activities in any given night. All families must report back to our start/finish area no later than 7:30PM.
Who:
This program is for participants 5 years and older. Kids in the 5 and 8 age are required to have a parent/guardian participating with them. Siblings under the age of 5 are welcome to participate for free with adult help. Parents/Grandparents are always encouraged to participate.
Program Fees:
Our 5-week programs are $45
Additional membership required:
All participants MUST have a 2024 Edmonton Overlanders Orienteering Club Household membership BEFORE the first session. If you do not already have a 2023 Edmonton Overlanders Orienteering Club Household Membership, please click this link to purchase one: https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=33911. This membership fee is not required if you previously purchased a 2024 membership.
Program format:
Our Fall programs will continue to utilize the ‘sliding start window’ allowing families to arrive & start anytime within a 30 minute time frame.
Example: Most of our Fall programs show a program time of 6:00PM – 7:00PM, families can arrive onsite from 6:00PM – 6:30PM. Equipment will start getting picked up/taken down approximately 50 minutes after the last family arrives allowing each family a minimum of one hour to complete activities.
Our programs continue to run family-focused, meaning that regardless of the participants age, parents are strongly encouraged to participate as well. This may mean that your family participates together OR could mean that your family completes different courses/activities at the same time, utilizing the same park space.
Where:
The first 5-weeks utilize locations within MacTaggart Sanctuary, where as the last 5-weeks utilize a different park space each week. The schedule will be emailed to registered participants. Please note that all park schedules are subject to approval from the City of Edmonton.
What to wear
Footwear: Running shoes or winter boots with good tread for traction, and laces so the shoes stay on the participants feet in the mud/slush.
Clothing: Comfortable clothing that you can move in! We recommend long pants and long sleeves, so you don’t get scratched by branches and prickles. On cool days/evenings, dress in layers so you can take a layer off when you warm up.
